Nanette Taylor Stephens, age 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at
the Mountain Valley Hospice Care Center of Yadkin. Born on June 3, 1955,
Nanette was the beloved daughter of the late Lenard Woodrow Taylor and Barbara
Jean Whittaker Taylor.
She
was a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life revolved
around the deep love she had for her family.
In
addition to her parents, Nanette was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda
Sue Utley, and her nephew, Ricky Miller.
Those
left to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy include her loving
daughter, Sandra Martinez, and husband Marco of Marion, VA; her sons, Leonard
Shupe of Damascus, VA, and Elijah Shupe and fiancée, Kaloni Davidson of
Chilhowie, VA; and her daughter, Patty Hunley and husband Dave of Flint, MI.
She is also survived by her devoted siblings, Lucy Barker and husband Jim of
Crumpler, NC, Raymond Taylor and wife Brenda of Wilkesboro, NC, Mae Roark of Wilkesboro, Shirley Medley
and husband Alvin of Lansing, NC, and Judy Roark and husband Ricky of
Jefferson, NC. Nanette’s joy lives on through her precious grandchildren,
Olivia, Cristian, and Octavian Peñaloza, Brian Severt, Anthony Greybeal,
Leandra Shupe, Frankie Shupe, and Keeden Shupe, as well as her three adored
great-grandchildren, Bryson, Aubrianna, and Dawson Severt. She also leaves
behind many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Nanette
truly loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and she made it
a priority to video chat with her children as much as possible. She found great
peace in the simple pleasures of life, like going fishing, growing many
beautiful flowers, and collecting windchimes, dolphins, and Indian decor for
her home. She thoroughly enjoyed drinking her Folgers coffee throughout her
day, especially outside in the fresh air during the mornings so she could watch
the sun rise.
A
celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to Fund A Family to help the family with unforeseen
funeral expenses. Miller Funeral Service is assisting the family with
arrangements. Online condolences may be made to www.millerfuneralservice.com
